Ford Files Trademark Applications in Russia to Reestablish Aftermarket Presence
The applications open a legal path for aftermarket activity, not a restart of manufacturing.
Overview
- RIA Novosti identified two December 2025 applications in Rospatent to register Ford’s logo in Russian and in English.
- If approved, the trademarks would allow sales of spare parts, vehicle software and equipment, and delivery of repair and maintenance services in Russia.
- Ford ended local vehicle production in Russia in 2019.
- In October 2022 the company sold its 49% stake in the Sollers Ford joint venture, with Sollers becoming sole owner of the Yelabuga and Naberezhnye Chelny plants.
- Ford retained a five-year option to repurchase the assets after the 2022 sale, keeping that option open until October 2027.
