Ford Expands Recall to 1.46 Million U.S. Vehicles for Faulty Rearview Cameras

VINs are now searchable on NHTSA, with dealers to inspect and replace cameras at no charge.

Overview

  • The expanded action covers 2015–2019 Ford and Lincoln models including Mustang, F-Series trucks, Transit, Edge, Expedition, Ranger, Lincoln MKC and Navigator.
  • Rearview cameras can display distorted, inverted or blank images when reversing, reducing visibility and increasing crash risk.
  • Approximately 1,456,417 vehicles are affected in the U.S., bringing the global total to about 1.9 million, including roughly 122,000 in Canada and 300,000 in other markets.
  • Interim owner notices are slated to begin Sept. 22 after NHTSA VIN lookup availability opened Sept. 8, with permanent remedy mailings to follow.
  • Ford reports 44,123 global warranty claims and 18 accidents tied to the cameras with no known injuries, and says the expansion builds on earlier 2025 recalls under heightened NHTSA oversight; supplier Magna manufactured the affected cameras.
