Ford Drops Ranger and Everest Bi-Turbo Diesel in Australia, Upgrades 2.0-Litre Single-Turbo for 2026

The overhaul arrives in early 2026 to deliver durability gains under stricter emissions standards.

Overview

  • Ford has confirmed the 2.0-litre bi-turbo four-cylinder diesel will be removed from the Ranger and Everest in Australia.
  • An updated 2.0-litre single-turbo will take the four-cylinder slot, gaining a 10-speed automatic, new fuel injection and a timing chain, with first deliveries in the first half of 2026.
  • The 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel will be offered on a wider range of models, with variant details to be announced closer to launch.
  • Ford is phasing out the six-speed automatic in lower grades as it standardises the 10-speed across more variants, and final outputs and emissions for the revised 2.0-litre are not yet confirmed.
  • The move tracks a broader global pullback on diesel and tightening Australian NVES and Euro 6/6d requirements, with separate reporting indicating a 2.3-litre EcoBoost petrol replacement in South Africa.
