Ford Cuts F-150 Lightning Production Amid Slowing EV Demand

About 1,400 Employees Affected, Some to be Transferred to Michigan Assembly Plant

Ford is reducing production of its F-150 Lightning electric vehicle due to slower-than-projected growth in EV demand.
About 1,400 employees at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Michigan will be affected as the facility transitions to one shift.
Approximately half of the affected employees will be transferred to Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant, which produces the Bronco SUV and Ranger pickups.
Ford sold fewer than 25,000 of the F-150 Lightning pickup in 2023 as it scaled back production.
Despite the growth, Ford is cutting Lightning production (again) as demand slips.
