Ford Adds Second LMDh Hypercar for Monza Test
The second car will let the team split control-system development from mechanical setup to speed endurance validation and driver selection.
Overview
- Ford confirmed it will run two examples of its unnamed 2027 LMDh Hypercar at the upcoming Monza test so the programme can run parallel development tasks.
- Team manager Dan Sayers said one car will focus on control-system and hybrid integration work while the other concentrates on mechanical setup and performance to double learning from each session.
- The car uses a 5.4-litre normally aspirated V8 derived from Ford’s Coyote architecture and has already logged heavy shakedown mileage during early tests at Paul Ricard, Portimão and Silverstone.
- Ford plans a Le Mans–distance endurance simulation at MotorLand Aragon in November that will determine final driver pairings, followed by a later durability sign-off at Sebring in the United States.
- A six-driver roster is already announced — Mike Rockenfeller, Seb Priaulx, Logan Sargeant, Matt Campbell, Nick Yelloly and Tom Blomqvist — and Ford intends to reveal the car’s name at a formal launch in late November.
