EV Energy Firm AMP to Enhance Charging, Battery Management Tech

Ford's acquisition of LA-based EV energy company Auto Motive Power is set to improve electric vehicle charging and battery management capabilities while integrating the expertise of AMP's talent pool and technology, following the company's dissolution.

• The acquisition of Auto Motive Power by Ford is aimed at employing the energy solutions provider's technology in improving EV charging and battery management.
• Auto Motive Power, founded in 2017, offers services including EV charging, cloud solutions, and battery and energy management, with its operations, technology, staff, and facilities being absorbed by Ford following its dissolution.
• Anil Paryani, the CEO of AMP, will join Ford's Model e unit under the supervision of Ford's EV development head, Alan Clarke, contributing his expertise in energy management technologies to Ford's EV portfolio.
• Despite a slowdown in its transition to EVs and a delay in its goal of building 600,000 EVs until 2024, Ford's acquisition of AMP indicates its commitment to advancing its EV plans, improving charging experiences and accelerating EV adoption.
• AMP has raised around $26.5 million since its establishment and employed approximately 149 employees, the majority of which, except for AMP's COO Lionel Selwood Jr, will be onboarded by Ford.
