Forces Seize Major Maoist Arms Cache in Chhattisgarh's Sukma

Officials say the find targets the Maoists' IED supply chain under a March 2026 elimination drive.

Overview

  • Acting on intelligence, a joint team from 203 CoBRA, CRPF 241 Bastar Battalion and district force personnel moved from Mettaguda and located the cache near Koimeta hills around 11 a.m. on Saturday.
  • Recovered items included country-made rifles, a barrel grenade launcher with its barrel, explosive materials and wiring, a broken Netra UAV propeller, and large stocks of iron fixtures and tools.
  • Police said the stockpile was intended to fabricate and plant IEDs to target security personnel, and the team secured the site and returned without casualties.
  • Senior officials said operations will continue across Sukma under the ongoing elimination push, paired with a surrender and rehabilitation policy for Maoist cadres.
  • In a separate Aug. 24 action in Narayanpur, DRG and ITBP arrested an alleged Maoist commander and recovered a BGL, ammunition and other explosives during a cordon-and-search.
