Footage and Records Detail 160 Mph Chase and Search Before Cowboys' Marshawn Kneeland's Death

Police initially believed the car was stolen.

Overview

  • Newly released body- and dash-camera video, along with DPS reports, show troopers pursued a Dodge Charger at up to 160 mph on Nov. 5 in suburban Dallas.
  • The Charger crashed with a Ford F-350 in Frisco and was found abandoned, where troopers discovered an empty holster that led them to believe the driver was armed.
  • Officers searched nearby woods and drainage tunnels using K-9 warnings, pepper balls, and a drone before Kneeland was found in a portable toilet in the early morning hours of Nov. 6.
  • Police say he died of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot, and family and friends had alerted authorities after receiving goodbye messages.
  • Girlfriend Catalina Mancera was briefly detained at the scene before cooperating, and the Cowboys have launched a memorial fund to support her during pregnancy.
