FOM Poll Finds Strong Support for Putin as United Russia Leads Voting Intentions

The Oct. 17–19 in-person survey of 1,500 adults carries a stated margin of error up to 3.6%.

Overview

  • FOM reports 79% of respondents rate Vladimir Putin’s job performance positively and 77% say they trust him, while 10% view his work poorly and 12% express distrust.
  • A majority of respondents say the federal government works rather well at 52%, and 56% positively evaluate Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin’s performance.
  • In a hypothetical State Duma vote held next Sunday, 41% would choose United Russia, followed by LDPR at 10%, the Communist Party at 9%, and New People and A Just Russia at 3% each.
  • The FOMnibus wave was conducted face to face at respondents’ homes across 97 localities in 51 federal subjects.
  • A separate VCIOM phone poll conducted Oct. 13–19 finds 74.5% approval of Putin and 77.8% trust, with party preferences at 33.6% for United Russia, 11.4% for LDPR, and 10.1% for the Communist Party.
