  • He fell to two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz 7-5, 6-7(5), 7-5, 2-6, 6-1 in a 4½-hour first-round match on Centre Court.
  • The loss extended his tour-level losing streak to ten matches, including a 0-7 start to the 2025 season, with injuries hampering his play.
  • Fognini departs with nine ATP singles titles, a career-high No. 9 ranking reached in 2019, and a Grand Slam doubles title.
  • Originally planning to retire at the end of 2025, the Italian chose Centre Court for his farewell after revealing flashes of his prime.
