Focus Features Acquires Agnieszka Smoczyńska's AI Thriller 'Hot Spot'

The sci-fi film, set in a near-future AI-ruled society, marks Smoczyńska's second English-language feature and reunites her with Focus Features.

'Hot Spot' follows a private investigator uncovering a rebel group in a society controlled by sentient AI, based on an original script by Robert Bolesto.
The film stars Andrzej Konopka, Noomi Rapace, and Reika Kirishima, with production recently completed in Greece on November 22, 2024.
Focus Features will handle global distribution, excluding Poland, Greece, and France, continuing its collaboration with Smoczyńska after 'The Silent Twins.'
The production involves multiple international partners, including Polish production company Madants and co-financing from the Polish Film Institute and the Hellenic Film & Audiovisual Center.
Focus Features executives praised Smoczyńska's visionary storytelling, describing the film as both visually striking and thematically relevant.
