Overview
- The announcement, published Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026, confirms Focus Features will release Anything But Ghosts on May 7, 2027 with Universal handling international distribution.
- Curry Barker co-wrote and directed the film with longtime collaborator Cooper Tomlinson and the pair also star; the cast includes Bryce Dallas Howard, Aaron Paul, Violet McGraw, and Chris Reinacher.
- Production and financing are led by Blumhouse‑Atomic Monster with Spooky Pictures and Divide/Conquer producing and Jason Blum, Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, Adam Hendricks, and Greg Gilreath listed as producers.
- Barker has said the film is set in the same universe as Obsession and will contain a small Easter egg referencing Obsession’s ending, indicating deliberate franchise building.
- Focus launched an official Instagram page for the film as promotion begins, and studios are moving quickly because Obsession’s tiny-budget breakout and roughly $519 million global gross made Barker a high-demand director.
