Fntastic's The Day Before Faces Backlash, Leads to Studio Closure
Following a disastrous launch and immense player backlash, the highly anticipated game was pulled from Steam, leading to the closure of the developing studio, Fntastic.
- The Day Before, a highly anticipated zombie survival MMO game developed by Fntastic, was released on December 7 and quickly faced immense backlash, leading to tens of thousands of players seeking refunds and the closure of the studio.
- Four days after the game's launch, Fntastic announced that the game was a financial failure and no more updates would be released. The game was subsequently pulled from sale on Steam.
- Many players and purchasers of the game have called it a 'scam'. Fntastic, its CEO, and publisher Mytona, as well as Valve, have refused to respond to these allegations.
- The Day Before sold 201,076 copies since its launch, but 91,694 units were eventually returned, indicating a refund rate of 45.6%.
- Fntastic has removed much of its online presence since announcing its closure, but an account for the studio still exists. One of its final messages posted to social media reads, 'This was our first big experience. Shit happens.'
