Flying Scotsman Adds Tickets Ahead of Summer Heritage Events

The additional ticket release underscores the Scotsman’s popularity ahead of Railway200 heritage events.

Overview

  • Alstom will make 7,500 extra tickets available from 9 am on June 21 for the Greatest Gathering at its Derby factory from August 1 to 3.
  • The Derby event will display over 50 historic and modern rolling stock exhibits spanning steam, diesel and electric propulsion.
  • In July the Flying Scotsman will inaugurate the re-laid track at the Severn Valley Railway in Kidderminster as part of its summer tour.
  • Earlier this year the locomotive spent summer at the Locomotion museum in County Durham offering display days and steam rides.
  • Owned by the National Railway Museum and designed by Sir Nigel Gresley, the Scotsman hauled the first non-stop London-Edinburgh service in 1928 and was the UK’s first locomotive to reach 100 mph.
