Overview
- Alstom will make 7,500 extra tickets available from 9 am on June 21 for the Greatest Gathering at its Derby factory from August 1 to 3.
- The Derby event will display over 50 historic and modern rolling stock exhibits spanning steam, diesel and electric propulsion.
- In July the Flying Scotsman will inaugurate the re-laid track at the Severn Valley Railway in Kidderminster as part of its summer tour.
- Earlier this year the locomotive spent summer at the Locomotion museum in County Durham offering display days and steam rides.
- Owned by the National Railway Museum and designed by Sir Nigel Gresley, the Scotsman hauled the first non-stop London-Edinburgh service in 1928 and was the UK’s first locomotive to reach 100 mph.
