Flyers place DeAngelo on waivers ahead of contract buyout

DeAngelo was acquired by the Flyers last summer in a trade with the Hurricanes.
The Flyers attempted to trade him back to Carolina, but the deal fell through.
DeAngelo struggled defensively late in the season and was scratched by coach John Tortorella.
The buyout will cost the Flyers $1.67 million against the salary cap for the next two seasons.
DeAngelo will now become an unrestricted free agent.
