Flybondi Cleared to Operate in Argentina Despite Mass Cancellations
Regulators' divergent actions could reshape cross-border oversight of passenger rights.
Overview
- Argentina's aviation regulator (ANAC) said in early August that Flybondi meets operational safety rules and allowed flights to continue after the carrier submitted a required action plan.
- ANAC filed two actas de infracción recording more than 20 cancellations in June and more than 100 in July, which open administrative procedures but are not final sanctions.
- Brazil's aviation regulator suspended ticket sales for several Flybondi routes including Buenos Aires–Galeão and barred the airline from expanding in Brazil until programming and complaint issues are fixed.
- Independent data from consultancy Adventus showed a collapse in service in the first days of August with about 15% punctuality and roughly 69% of scheduled flights cancelled.
- Flybondi is also in a corporate crisis after new majority owner COC Global Enterprise completed due diligence on July 31, alleged prior-management irregularities, and industry reports say the carrier could be folded into OCA though that plan is unconfirmed.
