Florida Universities See Mixed Results in Latest U.S. News Rankings

UF and USF experience declines while UCF and FIU make significant gains in the 2025 Best Colleges list.

The University of Florida dropped from sixth to seventh among public universities and from 28th to 30th among all U.S. universities.
Florida International University climbed 18 spots to 46th among public universities and is now the top performer for social mobility, tied with UC Riverside.
The University of Central Florida moved up five spots to 61st among public universities and is recognized as one of the most innovative schools.
Florida State University maintained its 23rd place among public universities but fell one spot to 54th among all U.S. universities.
Florida A&M University retained its top spot among public historically black colleges and improved its overall ranking by 18 spots to 81st.
