Florida Teen Dies After Suspected Lightning Strike While Biking

Cameron Day, an 11th grader at McArthur High School in Hollywood, Florida, died after a possible lightning strike on Wednesday evening.
He was found unresponsive with burn wounds on his chest and inner thighs near Southwest 67th Avenue and Southwest 6th Street in Pembroke Pines.
Eyewitnesses reported strong winds and heavy rain during the time of the incident, and a hole was found in the pavement near the scene.
McArthur High School is providing grief counseling to students and staff, and a GoFundMe page has been set up in Cameron's memory.
If confirmed, Cameron's death would mark the fifth lightning-related fatality in Florida this year, the highest of any state in 2024.
