Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, who supported the bill, argued that it was necessary because presidential candidates from the state were facing attacks from the federal government.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, also a Republican, had threatened to veto the bill, stating that he would not support using taxpayer money to fund Trump's legal battles.
