Florida Preschool Criticized for Rosa Parks Role-Play Involving Black Toddler

NAACP Calls for Investigation into Classroom Activity Deemed Insensitive and Inappropriate

A Florida preschool, Building Brains Academy, has come under scrutiny for a classroom activity in which a 2-year-old Black girl was allegedly made to role-play as Rosa Parks during a lesson about the civil rights icon.
The girl's parents, who believe their daughter is the only Black child in the class, removed her from the school after viewing images of the re-enactment, which were shared with the class's parents.
The NAACP has condemned the activity as an inappropriate trivialization of a significant historical event and has called for an investigation into the incident.
The school has denied allegations that the girl was handcuffed during the re-enactment and has stated that the photographs do not offer a complete or accurate representation of the full lesson.
Building Brains Academy has now implemented a policy requiring faculty to get any deviations from the approved curriculum approved by the school administration to avoid similar incidents.
