Florida Parents Charged After Assaulting School Resource Officer in Deltona

The incident occurred at Deltona Middle School during a meeting about the couple's 11-year-old son, who had been charged with battery for shoving another student.
Jorge Rivera, 46, and Dagmarie Aponte Iturrino, 45, became irate after learning another student would not face charges for throwing a shoe at their son.
The confrontation escalated in a hallway where Aponte Iturrino pushed the deputy, and Rivera punched her, knocking her to the ground and taking her Taser.
The deputy, who suffered a possible concussion, managed to regain control of the situation by drawing her firearm and ordering Rivera to drop the Taser before handcuffing him.
Both parents face multiple charges, including battery on a law enforcement officer, armed robbery, and resisting arrest, while Rivera also faces a hate crime enhancement for using a slur during the attack.
