Florida Neighbor in Batman Pajamas Detains Suspected Burglar Before Police Arrive

Police report recovered stolen items, with searches finding no additional suspect.

  • Officers said items taken from vehicles and a garage were recovered, including two pairs of Ray-Ban sunglasses, cash, a wristlet and more than $500 in gift cards.
  • Schimpl faces two counts of burglary of an unoccupied conveyance, one count of burglary of an occupied dwelling and two counts of petit theft under $750.
  • He claimed an accomplice, but helicopter and K9 searches found no other suspect, and jail records list a first court appearance on Sept. 29.
