• Cape Coral police say Kyle Myvett confronted the intruder after a home security notification and held him in a neighbor’s garage until officers arrived.
• Officers identified the suspect as 20-year-old Justin Schimpl, who was booked into the Lee County Jail on multiple burglary and petit theft charges.
• Detectives reported recovering items including two pairs of $300 Ray-Ban sunglasses, cash, jewelry or a bracelet, a woman’s wristlet, and more than $500 in gift cards.
• Schimpl claimed another man was involved, but helicopter and K9 searches found no additional suspects as the name he provided shifted.
• The police department publicly thanked Myvett for his quick action, saying it helped put a burglary suspect behind bars.
