Florida Moves All Driver License Exams to English Only Starting Feb. 6

The change replaces multilingual testing options previously offered for many licenses.

Overview

  • Florida's highway safety agency announced that all driver knowledge and skills tests will be administered in English beginning Feb. 6.
  • The policy applies to every driver’s license classification, including exams conducted orally.
  • Interpreters and other translation services will no longer be allowed, and printed tests in languages other than English will be removed.
  • Noncommercial knowledge tests were previously offered in multiple languages, while commercial learner’s permit and CDL exams were available in English and Spanish.
  • FLHSMV says it has updated its statewide testing system to support the change, and local tax collector offices will implement the new requirements.
