Florida Man Pleads Not Guilty to Charges in Fatal Human Smuggling Attempt

Steve Shand pleads not guilty to federal charges of human smuggling after four migrants were found dead near the Canadian border
The migrants, identified as Indian nationals, had frozen to death during a blizzard near Emerson, Manitoba
Shand is charged with bringing two people into the country illegally and illegally transporting them once in the U.S.
Shand's trial has been set for July 17, but that is subject to change.
The migrants may have faced economic conditions in India and calculated the trek to the United States was worth the risk
