Florida Man Charged with Murder of Newlywed Couple

Sony Josaphat, 46, arrested after allegedly shooting a pastor and his wife, both originally from Haiti, one week after their wedding.

Sony Josaphat, 46, has been arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of a newlywed couple in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The victims, a pastor and a nurse practitioner, were both originally from Haiti and had been married for just one week before they were killed.
Josaphat, who had previously lived at the home where the shooting took place, was seen walking through the yard before he approached the victims and opened fire.
Josaphat's daughter reportedly witnessed the shooting and called 911. After the shooting, Josaphat called his pastor to confess, then surrendered at the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office headquarters.
Despite the violent incident, court documents reveal that Josaphat had no previous history of domestic violence or a restraining order with the victims, and no drugs or alcohol were involved in the shooting.
