Florida Man Charged with Murder of Newlywed Couple

Sony Josaphat, 46, arrested after allegedly shooting a pastor and his wife, both originally from Haiti, one week after their wedding.

  • Sony Josaphat, 46, has been arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of a newlywed couple in West Palm Beach, Florida.
  • The victims, a pastor and a nurse practitioner, were both originally from Haiti and had been married for just one week before they were killed.
  • Josaphat, who had previously lived at the home where the shooting took place, was seen walking through the yard before he approached the victims and opened fire.
  • Josaphat's daughter reportedly witnessed the shooting and called 911. After the shooting, Josaphat called his pastor to confess, then surrendered at the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office headquarters.
  • Despite the violent incident, court documents reveal that Josaphat had no previous history of domestic violence or a restraining order with the victims, and no drugs or alcohol were involved in the shooting.
