Overview
- Tony Caba, 39, of Kissimmee, Florida, has been charged with murder and criminal weapons possession after video shows him firing five shots at close range into Roberto Cuevas on Fourth Avenue near 57th Street.
- Cuevas, 45, was seated in a plastic chair at the block party shortly before 9:15 p.m. Saturday and later died at NYU Langone–Brooklyn from a gunshot wound to the back.
- Caba was arrested in the 72nd Precinct shortly after the shooting and is awaiting arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court, with no attorney information yet available.
- NYPD officials say the motive remains unclear as investigators sift through surveillance footage and witness reports to reconstruct the sequence of events.
- Police are also probing a Cypress Hills homicide that killed Wilky Toribio-Perez, 23, and at least four other nonfatal shootings across Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx during the same weekend.
