Florida Man Charged with Attempted Murder for Intentionally Hitting Deputies with Car

Deputies Carlos Brito and Manny Santos critically injured in 'ambush'; fundraiser set up for their medical expenses

Ralph Bouzy, 28, has been charged with attempted murder after intentionally driving his car into Hillsborough County deputies Carlos Brito and Manny Santos, who were responding to a call about Bouzy acting violently.
Both deputies suffered severe leg injuries and are hospitalized; one may require leg amputation. They are expected to survive but face a long recovery.
The incident, described as an 'ambush', occurred when Bouzy returned to his home shortly after the deputies arrived and sped his car into them, pinning them against their patrol vehicle.
Bouzy, who has a criminal history including three felonies and 14 misdemeanors, has previously expressed hostility towards law enforcement. In a 2017 arrest, he stated he was going to kill a deputy.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has set up a fundraiser through the Lynn Sowers Memorial Foundation to cover the deputies' medical expenses, rehabilitation, and additional support for them and their families.
