Brewer turned himself in on February 12 and faces charges of felony criminal mischief over $1,000 and reckless driving.
The incident, which occurred on February 4, was captured on traffic cameras and corroborated by multiple witnesses.
Officials and activists are urging for Brewer's actions to be deemed a hate crime, highlighting the crosswalk's significance as a symbol of unity and inclusivity for the LGBTQ community.
The crosswalk, created with funding from the PBCHRC and the AIDS Healthcare Foundation in 2021, had previously been targeted in a similar act of vandalism.
