During the arrest, Atkins was found in possession of cocaine and now faces state charges for drug possession and making written threats to kill or harm, a second-degree felony.
Atkins admitted to writing the posts but claimed they were jokes; authorities stressed that such threats are taken seriously, especially in today's political climate.
The Secret Service and FBI are involved in the investigation, with federal charges still under consideration.
