Florida Lawmaker Files Bill to Rename Palm Beach Airport for President Trump

The proposal follows a recent roadway designation for Trump, remaining in the drafting stage.

Overview

  • State Rep. Meg Weinberger confirmed she filed a weekend bill to rename Palm Beach International as “Donald J. Trump International Airport,” with the text still being drafted.
  • Weinberger earlier co-sponsored the measure that designated a four-mile stretch of Southern Boulevard for Trump from the airport toward Mar-a-Lago.
  • The airport-renaming measure has not advanced in the Legislature or reached committee votes.
  • In a separate case, former Broward teacher Pamela S. Stigger pleaded no contest on Oct. 20 to two felony battery counts and was sentenced to five years’ probation with conditions including a psychosexual evaluation and no contact with the victim.
  • Glenn A. DeCicco, 73, pleaded guilty to making written or electronic threats against President Trump and received credit for 12 days served, one year of community control, two years’ probation, community service, weapon restrictions, no contact with the president, and an apology letter requirement.
