Florida GOP Chair Christian Ziegler Faces Rape Allegation, Refuses to Resign

The allegation has caused a split in the Moms For Liberty organization and prompted calls for Ziegler's resignation from party officials, including Governor Ron DeSantis.

Florida GOP Chair Christian Ziegler is under investigation for allegedly raping a woman who had previously engaged in a consensual three-way sexual relationship with him and his wife, Bridget Ziegler, co-founder of conservative parental rights group Moms for Liberty.
The Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, chapter of Moms For Liberty announced it would be breaking with the national organization in the wake of the accusations.
The Republican Party of Florida called an emergency meeting to discuss Ziegler’s future as party chair, with potential punitive options including revoking Ziegler’s authority and pay, as well as expulsion from his office and the state Republican Party.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis called for Ziegler to voluntarily resign from his post after the allegations broke.
Ziegler has denied the accusations and refuses to step down, stating in an email to state Republicans that he will not let 'false allegations of a crime put that mission on the bench as I wait for this process to wrap up.'
