Overview
- Amber Perren, 27, was attacked on July 23 while wading in about two feet of water on the South Fork of the St. Lucie River.
- Her husband, Kelby Perren, pulled her free in a tug-of-war with the alligator after it clamped onto her right arm.
- She was taken by boat to the Palm City Boat Ramp and airlifted to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital for emergency care.
- Perren suffered fractures to both forearm bones and a severed radial artery, underwent five surgeries with multiple skin grafts, and is being treated for compartment syndrome.
- She can move her fingers but reports significant numbness, may need additional operations, has returned to work, and is continuing occupational therapy.
