Florida Dad's Wife and Sons Charged with Evidence Tampering in His 2021 Stabbing Death

Two sons set up GoFundMe after Florida father's death; family faces evidence tampering charges two years later.

  • In July 2021, 52-year-old Florida man David Rainey was found stabbed to death and submerged underwater while on vacation with his family in Suwannee. His death remains unsolved, and no one has been charged with his murder.
  • Two years after his death, David's wife Cindy Rainey and their two sons, Bailey and Jack, were arrested and charged with evidence tampering in connection with his death. It is still unclear who might be suspected of the actual murder.
  • Before his death, David reportedly left their vacation rental house without his phone, glasses or wallet after an argument with his wife. His body, with several stab wounds, was found the same day in a canal at the back of their rental home.
  • After David's death, his son Bailey started a GoFundMe campaign asking for charitable donations for himself and his brother Jack. The campaign raised $475 before it was taken down.
  • David Rainey was a native of California who had been residing in Palm Coast, Florida with his family at the time of his death. He was a respected welder and mechanic traveling all over the United States and the world for his work.
