Florida Amber Alert Issued for Missing 5-Year-Old Boy Believed to Be Taken by Grandmother

Authorities are searching for Jace Saunders, a semi-verbal autistic child, last seen in Tavares, Florida, and believed to be with his grandmother in a black Honda Accord.

  • Jace Saunders, a 5-year-old boy diagnosed with autism, was last seen on Sunday, December 15, in Tavares, Florida, wearing a black long-sleeved shirt with a multicolored graphic and dark pajama pants.
  • Authorities believe Jace was unlawfully taken by his grandmother, 50-year-old Kelly Day-Dasilva, during a Department of Children and Families (DCF) investigation into his custody situation.
  • An Amber Alert was issued early Monday by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), warning the public not to approach Day-Dasilva or the vehicle, a black Honda Accord, if spotted.
  • Jace's parents were arrested on Sunday for interference with child custody, and a family friend who allegedly transferred custody of the boy to Day-Dasilva has also been detained.
  • Police urge anyone with information on Jace's whereabouts to contact the Tavares Police Department or call 911 immediately.
