Flooding Forces Cancellations at Three Oxfordshire Parkruns on Saturday

Flooded routes made courses unsafe, prompting organisers to direct runners to the national cancellations page.

Overview

  • Banbury parkrun was called off on Saturday morning after a course check found a major breach at the start and finish and parts of the Res Car Park underwater.
  • Bicester parkrun at Langford Fields was cancelled on Friday after organisers reported the brook had burst its banks and the fields were under water.
  • West Witney parkrun stood down Friday as the course was deemed waterlogged and unsafe with little chance of drying before the scheduled start.
  • Banbury’s team thanked volunteers and pacers and asked those able to carry their roles forward to contact Becky at banbury@parkrun.com.
  • Participants were advised to verify events at parkrun.org.uk/cancellations before traveling as other local events have also been called off due to flooding.
