Félix Bingui, Alleged Leader of Marseille's 'Yoda' Drug Clan, Extradited and Charged in France

Félix Bingui, known as 'Le Chat,' was extradited from Morocco to France on January 22, 2025, following his arrest in Casablanca in March 2024.
He has been charged with organized drug trafficking, money laundering, and failure to declare resources, and is being held in isolation in Marseille.
Bingui is alleged to have led the 'Yoda' gang, a major narcotics network in Marseille, and to have played a role in a violent gang war with the 'DZ Mafia' in 2023 that resulted in 49 deaths.
The extradition is being hailed by French authorities as a significant success in combating narcotrafficking, with Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin praising Moroccan cooperation.
Bingui's lawyer emphasized his presumption of innocence and criticized public statements by officials that could undermine judicial independence.
