Overview

  • Cloudbursts in Rampur, Kullu and Lahaul-Spiti triggered flash floods that washed away at least three bridges and forced the closure of 396 roads, including two national highways.
  • The IMD has issued red and orange warnings for Himachal, Uttarakhand and Telangana, where two deaths have been reported, forecasting more heavy rains that have prompted school closures and reservoir gate releases.
  • The Indian Army along with NDRF and SDRF teams has rescued stranded civilians in Kinnaur’s Rishi Dogri valley and is delivering aid to flood-isolated villages.
  • In Punjab’s Kapurthala district, a breach in Beas River bunds submerged over a dozen villages and thousands of acres of farmland, leading authorities to reinforce embankments with sandbags.
  • Since June 20, Himachal Pradesh has recorded 241 monsoon-related deaths, dozens missing and infrastructure losses estimated at around Rs 2,031 crore as roads, bridges and water schemes remain disrupted.
