Flames Activate Devin Cooley and Reassign Arsenii Sergeev
Calgary has restored a two-goalie NHL roster that creates a straight choice between returning backup Devin Cooley and in-form Dustin Wolf.
Overview
- The Flames activated goaltender Devin Cooley off injured reserve on Thursday and reassigned Arsenii Sergeev to the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers to restore a two-goalie NHL roster.
- Sergeev practiced with the big club and made one NHL appearance, allowing five goals against Colorado, before returning to the Wranglers where he missed little action due to the AHL schedule.
- Cooley suffered a lower-body injury after a collision with Colton Dach on Oct. 28 and had missed four games before being eligible for activation this week.
- Dustin Wolf started three games during Cooley’s absence and posted a 2-0-1 record with a .936 save percentage, creating a functional 1A/1B goaltending situation for the Flames.
- Cooley enters as an available option but was not expected to start immediately during a travel day, and the club still has Jonathan Huberdeau and Sam Honzek on injured reserve.
