Flamengo Posts Record R$2.1 Billion Revenue, Tightens Transfer Policy

Talks to extend coach Filipe Luís remain unresolved.

Overview

  • Club leaders reported roughly R$2.07–2.1 billion in 2025 revenue, R$218 million in free cash, and a drop in net debt from R$346 million to R$96 million.
  • Player trading yielded about R$545 million this year, with exits including Gerson to Zenit, Wesley to Roma, Alcaraz to Everton, Matheus Gonçalves to Al-Ahli and Juninho to Pumas.
  • President Luiz Eduardo Baptista said Flamengo will avoid signing players over 26, will only sell with payment guarantees, and has cut intermediary fees to a 7% ceiling.
  • Baptista outlined a youth plan that accepts a quieter academy output in 2026 and targets technically gifted 16–17-year-olds to strengthen by 2027.
  • Sporting director José Boto said Palmeiras is currently stronger in transitioning academy players, and TV Globo publicly condemned a misogynistic remark Baptista made about one of its journalists during the presentation.
