• Messages reviewed by deputies included a photo of a box with 15 knives and a brass knuckle and texts threatening to stab another child.
• Investigators say the 12-year-old acknowledged sending the threats out of anger during an interview with his parents present.
• With parental permission, deputies searched his room and recovered the same box of weapons shown in the photo.
• He was arrested on a charge of written or electronic threats to kill or commit bodily harm and transferred through juvenile intake to the Volusia Family Resource Center as Sheriff Rick Staly urged parental monitoring of kids’ online activity.
