Overview
- Police say the two-vehicle collision occurred shortly after 9pm on November 15 on the L3168 at Gibstown outside Dundalk, involving a Volkswagen Golf and a Toyota Land Cruiser.
- Three men and two women in their early 20s, all travelling in the Golf, were pronounced dead at the scene.
- A sixth occupant of the Golf is being treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while a man and a woman from the Land Cruiser also have non-life-threatening injuries.
- The road remains closed between the N52 and the R171 as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators examine the scene, with the vehicles and the bodies still at the location.
- An incident room has been established under a Senior Investigating Officer, family liaison officers have been appointed, the coroner and State Pathologist have been notified for post-mortems, and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage from 8:30pm to 9:15pm.
