Overview

• The five-year-old boy was abducted from his mother’s vehicle in central Senguio on Aug. 12 by unknown assailants who forced him into a black van.
• Security elements from the Secretaría de Seguridad Pública, state Guardia Civil and municipal police in Senguio, Maravatío and Tlalpujahua launched a joint operation that spanned air and ground units.
• Officers located the child inside an abandoned red Honda with UDC plates in La Trampa and rescued him without confrontation.
• Local paramedics conducted a medical evaluation and then authorities prepared his transfer to child protection services for family reunification.
• The perpetrators have not been identified, no arrests have been made and investigations into the motive and suspects are ongoing.
