Overview
- Lewis Uvwo confirmed late Wednesday that he had committed to Providence, selecting the Friars over finalists Baylor, Kentucky, and Cal.
- Rivals Industry Rankings list Uvwo as a top-10 prospect in the 2027 class and the No. 1 center, reflecting offers from major programs including North Carolina, Michigan, BYU, and Duke.
- Scouts praise Uvwo’s defensive impact after a breakout summer that included EYBL Defensive Player of the Year honors and roughly 5–6 blocks per game at Peach Jam.
- Evaluations note Uvwo’s offensive game is currently limited to putbacks, rim runs, and lobs, so Providence will focus on developing his scoring touch and on-ball skills.
- Uvwo, a 6-foot-11 senior at Prolific Prep originally from Nigeria, represents a recruiting milestone for coach Bryan Hodgson and could raise Providence’s national recruiting profile.
