Five Sent to 14-Day Judicial Custody in Zubeen Garg Probe

Investigators say forensic inputs plus Singapore coordination are steering the case toward a charge sheet.

Overview

  • An Assam court remanded Shyamkanu Mahanta, Siddharth Sharma, Sandipan Garg, Nandeswar Bora and Paresh Baishya to 14 days in judicial custody after their police remand ended.
  • Two other accused, bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and singer Amritprava Mahanta, remain in police custody until October 17 before their next court production.
  • Three more Singapore-based attendees — Sushmita Goswami, Pratim Bhuyan and Debojyoti Hazarika — appeared in Guwahati, bringing to 10 the number of 11 summoned witnesses who have deposed.
  • Singapore authorities emailed via the Indian High Commission seeking the deputed officers’ names and inquiry scope; Assam CID has replied and says its SIT will travel once permission is granted.
  • The SIT has received post-mortem and CFSL viscera reports for court submission, warned that a viral post-mortem document is fake, and reiterated a plan to file within statutory timelines.
