Five Outer Banks Homes Collapse Into Atlantic as Offshore Hurricanes Drive Dangerous Surf

  • NCDOT closed a section of NC Highway 12 on north Ocracoke Island and suspended the HatterasOcracoke ferry as overwash made travel hazardous, highlighting broader erosion and access risks.
