Overview

• A federal grand jury indictment unsealed on June 25 charges five alleged MS-13 members with racketeering, murder, conspiracy and narcotics trafficking in connection with two slayings on Long Island.
• Yoneli Ramos-Moreno was lured to a Hauppauge parking lot in October 2023 and driven to Sunken Meadow Bluff, where he was strangled and beaten to death over suspected ties to a rival gang.
• Three defendants are accused of stabbing and drowning Carlos Lopez-Lopez at a Blue Point beach in March 2025 after alleging he cooperated with law enforcement.
• The indictment also alleges the defendants conspired to distribute cocaine and marijuana to finance MS-13’s criminal operations and send proceeds to leadership in the U.S. and Central America.
• If convicted on all counts, each defendant faces up to life in prison or the possibility of the death penalty under federal law.
