Overview
- Security forces say an intelligence-based operation in Panjgur, Balochistan, killed five militants and led to the seizure of weapons, an IED, three vehicles and two motorcycles.
- The Inter-Services Public Relations announced Friday that a series of joint intelligence-based operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan killed a total of 49 militants.
- Military statements say raids were carried out in districts including Bannu, North Waziristan, Orakzai, Khyber, Mastung, Mach, Khuzdar and Panjgur and that large caches of explosives, IED detonators and ammunition were recovered and destroyed.
- Government leaders have framed the campaign under the Azm-e-Istehkam and Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-3 as efforts to dismantle what they call foreign-backed networks and to prevent planned attacks.
- Despite the reported successes, separate attacks across Balochistan — including a police station bombing, arson, abductions and roadside blasts — show violence and insecurity persist and sanitisation sweeps will continue to look for remaining militants.
