Overview
- At the Old Bailey, Judge Anuja Dhir KC imposed life sentences with minimum terms of 39 years for Lorik Lupqi, 38 years for Abel Chunda and Eden Clark, and 37 years for Jason Furtado and Xavier Poponne, totaling 189 years.
- The attackers descended on the Elthorne Estate in Archway on June 29, 2023, killing 15-year-old Leonardo Reid and 23-year-old Klevi Shekaj and seriously injuring Abdullah Abdullahi after a music-video shoot.
- Lupqi, who previously assaulted a co-defendant in the dock, was double-handcuffed during sentencing and made a threatening outburst toward the judge as he was led away.
- Investigators tied the group to the ambush using CCTV, phone records showing a flurry of calls before the attack, and drill-rap lyrics written afterward; Lupqi had cut off an electronic tag and was extradited from Kosovo in 2024.
- Victims’ mothers condemned the men for “smirking” and showing no remorse during the trial, and the judge criticized most defendants’ conduct while stressing the sentences were for the crimes committed.
