Overview

• Boston police named the suspects as Franklin Francois, 51, of Randolph; Woopenson Morisset, 30, of Boston; Gardy Exantus, 33, of Mattapan; Maurice Payne, 37, of Brockton; and Patrick Fanfan, 53, of Hyde Park.
• Morisset, Payne, and Fanfan were charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, while Francois and Exantus face assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; Exantus also faces a separate assault and battery count.

• Police say the Sept. 13 attack near 550 River St. followed anti-gay comments and involved two men swinging baseball bats, leaving one victim bleeding from a head wound and hospitalized.
